Gretchen Wilson

Country star Gretchen Wilson has finally gotten her GED.  The 34-year-old singer had a hit with her first single, “Redneck Woman”.  Wilson is also known to chew tobacco.

Despite all her successes, the 34-year-old songwriter was one of 20 percent of Tennesseans without a high school diploma. But no longer.

Wilson, who dropped out in ninth grade, passed her General Educational Development exam in April and will don a cap and gown during a May 15 graduation ceremony.

Congrats to Wilson for finally graduating high school! Better late than never, right?  Still, Wilson strikes me as the worst kind of Southern stereotype.  And I should know; where I’m from she’s practically a hero to tobacco-chewing, pick-up driving, mullet-sporting single moms ever!
