Kristy Lee Cook was like an annoying bug on American Idol that just wouldn’t go away. Great performers such as Michael Johns were sent home, while Kristy was left hanging around like a cockroach.
When Kristy finally got the boot, it was like, finally! There is justice in this world, after all! Turns out, it’s not so though! Kristy Lee is back and has gotten a record deal. Cringe with me now.
Cook’s first single is titled “15 Minutes of Shame”. Bitter of her American Idol success much?
“I’ve wanted this for so many years,” Cook said in a statement. “To have the chance to be a country singer — to make the music I love — and to have enjoyed the support of so many American Idol fans this past season, it all means more than I can put into words.”
Sony BMG Nashville Chairman Joe Galante said Cook will be “very relatable to the country audience and is destined to have hits.
Ruben Studdard of American Idol fame got hitched to his fiancé, Surata Zuri McCants, in Alabama this weekend, according to OK! Magazine.
The couple had a black-and-white themed ceremony at the Canterbury United Methodist Church in Mountain Brook, Alabama, with 200 guests in attendance.
Ruben, 29, and his groomsman all wore Joseph Abboud, OK! reports, adding that “Idol”’s season two champ (a.k.a. “The Velvet Teddy Bear”) told The Birmingham News that he met his bride Surata, 30, while signing copies of his CD at an Atlanta-area Wal-Mart.
“We started talking, and she was telling me about her friend. But I just looked at her and thought, ‘She is so beautiful,’” he said, continuing: “God has given me a beautiful wife. I am looking forward to having fun with her and enjoying all the blessings that have come my way so far.”
After asking out former American Idol contestant Kimberly Caldwell on live television last week, David Cook cashed in and the couple went out for dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in New York over the weekend.
Tuesday on Live with Regis and Kelly, Cook said he enjoyed his date with Kimberly and they would “probably hang out again.”
Caldwell finished seventh on American Idol season two.

The Idol Top 12 got together and sang a medley of “Faith,” “Father Figure” and “Freedom”. They were later joined by George Michael himself, who sings “Praying for Time.” Does this make a comeback for Michael, who is 44?
Decide for yourself…video is after the jump! (more…)
Carrie Underwood performed her latest hit “Last Name” on last night’s American Idol finale. I’m not sure what she was wearing, but I liked her shoes and she has such a powerful voice! Such an adorable song, too. She seems to keep building on the success that “Before He Cheats” with different versions, but it’s kind of interesting how she’s telling a story of the boy-gone-wrong throughout more than one song.
Thursday night on the American Idol season finale, the battle of the Davids came to an end.
25-year-old David Cook and 17-year-old David Archuleta gave it their all, making Idol’s seventh season the most exciting to date.
Simon Cowell thought David Archuleta had the edge on Tuesday night, calling his performance a knock out. Wednesday night he apologized to Cook for being “disrespectful.” In the end David Cook proved he had what it takes and took the title of American Idol season seven winner.
Congratulations to American Idol 2008 winner David Cook!
Last night former winner Fantasia performed on American Idol. Let me just say what everyone is thinking…how in the world did this girl win? Was the competition really that bad? All she did was screech and holler. And poor Simon…just watch the video to check out his face in the end!
Everyone’s favorite stoner Idol, Jason Castro, insists that he’s never even smoked pot before!
Says Jason to OK! Magazine, “I think that, especially with things like [Idol], people like to stereotype so easily. Just because a guy is really easy going… People have always said that [about me]. When I was younger I was real hyper and they’d think I was always drunk and I had never had a drink of alcohol until, like, last year. But the fact is I’ve never been high in my life!”
American Idol Top 8: Brooke White, David Archuleta, Kristy Lee Cook, David Cook, Carly Smithson, Jason Castro, Syesha Mercado and Michael Johns.
After ending Idol Gives Back on Wednesday night with an edited version of Shout to the Lord, substituting “shephard” for “Jesus,” the American Idol top 8 opened the show tonight with the original lyrics.
This is one of my all time favorite worship songs, and it never fails to move me when we sing it in church.
